libsndfile for MacOS

New March 13, 2007

Libsndfile is an audio programming library that supports reading and writing a large variety of soundfile formats. It is a portable and cross-platform C library running on Linux, Unix, Windows, and MacOS (Classic or OS X). Libsndfile was written by Erik de Castro Lopo and is maintained by him at http://www.mega-nerd.com/libsndfile/.

I am providing pre-compiled static libraries of libsndfile versions 1.0.10 and 1.0.11 for MacOS 7-9, compiled with CodeWarrior pro 8. I have made a few small modifications so that they would compile again on that platform but this is not a "port" since Erik already had support for MacOS 9 in his code. That support was just a little out-of-date, and I hope this update will make it easier for any interested programmers to make use of this great library. (I am using it to build Csound 5 on MacOS). These versions are a little old now but they are the last ones that I am aware of to include the MacOS 9 support.

Libsndfile is free software licensed under theGNU Lesser General Public License. I have, of course, included the full, modified source code and my IDE projects with these packages. You will need a similar version of CodeWarrior to use the static libraries, else you will have to recompile. I hope to add a shared library in the future.
